Marina's affinity for social networking and glamour began in childhood with a love of hosting get-togethers and a vast collection of celebrity magazines. On completing her schooling, she followed her contemporaries to London, to make her way in the international scene.
It was here that she was discovered by Ian Schrager, and given her first Public Liaison position at the prestigious St Martins Lane Hotel, later The Sanderson Hotel. Thus began her career in hosting and connecting people.
The world-renowned Purple PR Firm in London recognised her potential, and gave her an internship. With a celebrity client list including the likes of Donna Karan, Kylie Minogue, Texas, Richard James and The Ian Schrager Hotel Group; Marina gained real experience in the cut-throat world of promotion and publicity.
Having completed two years and worked her way up at Purple PR, Marina returned to South Africa, where she took a position in the marketing division of British American Tobacco (BAT), working specifically on premium brand, Dunhill. She continued honing her inter-personal skills, and developing a local network amongst Cape Town's coveted social circuit, as well as international personalities.
Marina has always been known for being in the right place at the right time, connecting the right people.
When Marina eventually went independent, she handled the Pam Golding Properties and Cadiz Financial Service accounts. Her creative flair came to the fore when she won best marquee design at the J&B Met in 2007.
She joined Vanilla Events, bringing her top-end client list with her and continued to work on other high-profile clients, including Allan Gray, Discovery Health and New Media Publishing.
In 2008 Marina decided to use her extensive experience and impressive contact list to form an events company. Which is why Marina's Little Black Book of everybody who's anybody is now available to you.
